Ambulance Driver Job Description

An ambulance driver is a person who drives an ambulance or other emergency response vehicle.

An ambulance driver is the only person allowed to drive an ambulance, unless you work in an organization that doesn’t authorize each individual employee to drive their own vehicle.

Typically, only emergency medical services employees drive ambulances.

Your doctor, nurse, hospital social worker, or hospital chaplain may drive the ambulance as well.

An ambulance driver must be licensed as an ambulance driver by state, local, or national authorities.

Drivers who drive ambulances in more than one state have to submit the necessary paperwork to each state in which they drive.
