Art Therapist Job Description

Art therapists are mental health professionals who help people express deep-seated emotional, personal, and interpersonal concerns through the medium of visual or hands-on art.

Art therapists use visual art, the creative process, and the therapeutic relationship to help people explore their feelings, beliefs, and thoughts.

They also often use the creative process to help people understand and solve psychological and behavioral issues, develop social skills, and learn to recognize and cope with feelings.

Art therapists may specialize in areas such as art therapy for children or individuals with physical, mental, or developmental disabilities.
