Job Brief:

We're looking for an Assistant Editor who is passionate about writing and has a strong interest in fashion. The Assistant Editor will be responsible for helping the Editor with various tasks, including writing articles, editing photos, and managing the website.

Assistant Editor Duties:

  • Assist the production team with editorial processes
  • Discuss, implement, and document best practices
  • Plan, organize, and execute editorial deliverables such as schedules and budgets
  • Act as liaison between the production team and departments such as sales, marketing, and advertising
  • Ensure the editorial process remains on track and on time
  • Coordinate with other editorial staff
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, practices, and developments
  • Track and analyze industry trends and changes

Assistant Editor Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior editor with editing newspapers and other publications, including reviewing and editing stories for content, flow, and grammar, checking for plagiarism, fact-checking, and fact-checking against database sources
  • Research and write stories, including news, feature, and enterprise write-ups, and breaking news stories
  • Maintain databases of contacts, sources, and story information
  • Assist with the day-to-day running of the office, including mail, phone, and courier duties, and coordinating the shipping/receiving of materials
  • Organize the office with filing, records management, and administrative tasks
  • Perform research and assemble information, including statistics, maps, diagrams, and charts, as needed
  • Maintain web and social media postings, such as posting photos and videos

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or related field
  • 3+ years relevant experience editing transcripts and reports
