Athletic Director is a managerial position within colleges and universities.

The athletic director plans, organizes, and coordinates intercollegiate sports programs and the activities associated with them.

The athletic director may also oversee other athletic activities, such as the men’s and women’s gymnastics teams, the physical education department, and the intramural sports programs.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for an Athletic Director to lead our sports program. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in athletic administration, be a strong leader, and have a proven track record in building successful programs.

Athletic Director Duties:

  • Run a sports team; coordinate activities with other coaches
  • Design and implement athletic strategies
  • Stay abreast of the latest sports developments and scientific research
  • Organize and maintain records for athletic team
  • Oversee and support camps, tryouts, and other training programs
  • Develop and practice new athletic strategies
  • Meet with potential sponsors

Athletic Director Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, evaluate, and manage coaches and support staff, including administrators, trainers, and support staff
  • Oversee athletic programs including practices and meetings, recruiting, and coordinating extracurricular activities
  • Ensure the health and care of student-athletes and compliance with all rules and regulations
  • Ensure compliance with Title IX
  • Ensure compliance with all policies on student-athlete conduct, including but not limited to drug and alcohol use, gambling, eligibility, and financial aid
  • Oversee the planning and execution of all team activities, including scheduling, transportation, camps, and clinics
  • Oversee all team fundraising initiatives
  • Coordinate with and oversee other coaches, support staff, administrators, and student-athletes
  • Maintain and monitor all team equipment, including uniforms, vehicles, and facilities
  • Provide administrative support to the coaches, including scheduling, travel, and meeting planning

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sports management, physical education, or related field
  • 2+ years’ proven experience as an athletic director or head coach
  • Proven leadership and management abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, including oral and written
  • Excellent knowledge of NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA rules and regulations
