The job of the audiovisual technician is to take audio and visual feeds from sources, convert them to the appropriate format, and make them available to viewers.

Audiovisual technicians can also create feeds from sources, convert the feeds to digital or analog feeds, and distribute the feeds.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for an Audio Visual Technician to help us with our event. We need someone who is experienced in setting up and operating audio and visual equipment. The ideal candidate will be able to work well under pressure and be able to troubleshoot any problems that may arise. Audio Visual Technician Duties:

  • Perform all Audio Visual related duties
  • Ability to understand difficult technical concepts and explain them to others
  • Ability to deal with frustrations and setbacks without letting on to others
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to calmly and rationally evaluate a situation and take appropriate action
  • Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure

Audio Visual Technician Responsibilities:

  • Perform audio visual setup and take down for events, including meeting rooms, classrooms, auditoriums, and lecture halls
  • Conduct meetings and presentations with remote participants using Skype, GoToMeeting, or other teleconferencing system
  • Conduct lectures using PowerPoint, Prezi, or other presentation software
  • Use AV equipment to enhance presentations, including live video feeds, laptop computers, projectors, and document cameras
  • Create and edit PowerPoint presentations
  • Fix any audiovisual equipment to make it work effectively
  • Research new equipment and technologies, and test and troubleshoot them
  • Coordinate with AV services company to ensure timely setup and tear down of AV equipment and event facilities
  • Conduct research to find availability and cost estimates for equipment rentals and service contracts

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Experience with AV systems, including video projection, audio, lighting, and control systems
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, and problem-solving ability
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
