An automotive technician is a person skilled in the art of the business of repairing, maintaining, and overhauling automobiles.

He uses electronic test equipment to locate and correct malfunctions in fuel, ignition, and emissions control systems.

Overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for Automotive Technicians who have experience working with a variety of vehicles. You will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing automotive systems and components. If you are a self-starter with a passion for cars, then we want you on our team!

Automotive Technician Duties:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automotive systems and components, such as engines, brakes, steering and suspension systems, heating and air conditioning, drivelines, and electrical circuitry
  • Insist on proper procedures to keep vehicles and components clean and well maintained
  • Perform pre- and post-service inspections
  • Procure parts and materials
  • Perform work in an industrial environment

Automotive Technician Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic, mechanical, and electrical repairs to a wide range of vehicles
  • Replace and/or repair engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, suspensions, heads, and other components
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes, tune-ups, and fluid changes
  • Assemble and disassemble engines and transmissions
  • Clean, polish, and wax vehicles, and perform other detailing tasks
  • Perform minor collision repairs, including dent and scratch removal and painting
  • Perform minor electrical repairs, including replacing fuses, bulbs, and automotive electronics
  • Perform minor preventive maintenance, including changing oil and filters
  • Clean and maintain customer areas, and stock parts and equipment
  • Perform other duties and tasks, as assigned

Requirements And Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in automotive repair and maintenance
  • Licensed and ASE certified as required by state
  • Knowledge of automotive diagnostic and repair procedures
  • Ability to identify repair problems and make appropriate repairs
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems
  • Ability to inspect vehicles to identify needed repairs
