A babysitter is an individual hired to care for another person’s children.

Also known as a nanny or a nursery nurse in the United Kingdom, a babysitter or nanny is often hired on a temporary basis.

Duties of a babysitter typically include feeding, clothing, and bathing the child.

Some babysitters may also watch other children while their parents work.

This is sometimes called household help and can include light housework, meal preparation, and childcare.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Babysitter to help us out with the kids while we’re at work. We’d love to have someone who can help out with homework, dinner, and bedtime.

Babysitter Duties:

  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of a child care facility, including supervising children and assisting with meal preparation
  • Handle all scheduling, paperwork, and finances
  • Obtain and develop information about parents, children, facility, and services provided
  • Prepare reports
  • Educate children and staff about child care principles
  • Plan and prepare meals for children
  • Provide transportation for children to and from school, extracurricular activities, and doctor appointments
  • Maintain and supervise a child care facility

Babysitter Responsibilities:

  • Provide care for infants and children in their home
  • Plan, prepare, and serve meals and snacks
  • Provide active play, assist with potty training, bathe, dress, feed, and diaper
  • Be able to work within a busy schedule
