Benefits Specialist Duties

  • Assist in the development and implementation of company benefits programs
  • Provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas
  • Assist in the processing of benefit enrollments, terminations, and changes
  • Develop and maintain benefit manuals, procedures, and forms
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of employee benefit package

Benefits Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact for benefits questions, provide administrative support, compose and route correspondence, and assist with plan integration
  • Assemble and distribute open enrollment communication materials, including benefit summaries, benefit guides, and enrollment guides
  • Create reports for academic area managers, and support with eligibility and enrollment questions
  • Compose, update, and maintain the benefit provider directory
  • Assist with claims requests
  • Manage employee service requests
  • Conduct benefit enrollment and termination meetings; track enrollment, calculate premiums, and process terminations

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, human resources, or related field
    Two years of benefits-related experience
  • Proven experience providing benefits advice to employees and conducting benefits enrollment meetings
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; detail oriented and organized
