The brewmaster is responsible for brewing the ale in the brewery.

This person also considers the ingredients to be used when brewing and extracts the optimal amount of liquids from the ingredients.

The brewmaster is also responsible for processing the ale, packaging, and transporting the ale to the point of sale.

The brewmaster is also responsible for supervising the workers and ensuring that the ale is brewed to quality standards.

Brewmaster Duties:

  • Develop and oversee all brewing operations, including recipe development, quality control, brewing equipment and sanitation, and monitoring of production statistics
  • Design and implement new brewing methods
  • Develop new product lines
  • Maintain and update production schedule
  • Promote employee morale and work satisfaction
  • Promote and maintain a positive work environment

Brewmaster Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the brewing and fermenting process within the company, including functional area operations, recipe formulation, productivity targets, product quality, and cost control
  • Manage the brewing and fermentation process, including protein / wort filtrations, mash tun, kettle and lauter mash, boil kettle, whirlpool, wort chiller, wort pump, fermentation tanks, brew house machinery, and beer packaging equipment
  • Assist team leaders in developing annual business plans and goals
  • Manage up to 35 employees, including hourly and salaried employees, and direct and supervise the brewing and fermentation process
  • Formulate, pilot, and test new recipes and quality control procedures
  • Maintain product consistency through proper blending, sanitation, and packaging
  • Resolve quality issues, and oversee the process from fermentation to packaging

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in brewing or brewing science, or 5+ years experience in brewing
  • Proven brewing experience from 2 to 4 years
  • Strong knowledge of brewing practices, equipment, and techniques
  • Excellent knowledge of premium beer styles
