The camp leader is the person in charge of all activities of a summer camp.

A camp leader is the person who is in overall charge of the camp.

The camp leader acts as the camp director, the counselor, and the writer.

The camp leader decides what the theme of the camp will be, which activities are best suited to the camp’s goals, and which activities the camp will use.

The camp leader must ensure that the activities are supervised properly and that the campers have a safe and fun experience.

The camp leader is also responsible for making sure that the campers receive all instruction and materials needed.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for Camp Leaders who are passionate about working with children, have a strong desire to help them grow and learn, and who are excited to create a fun and safe environment for them to enjoy.

Camp Leader Duties:

  • Manage and direct operation of a camp, focusing primarily on developing and managing camp policies and programs
  • Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and staff members
  • Recommend improvements to camp policies
  • Identifies departmental needs and works to fill those needs
  • Contributes to the development of camp budgets
  • Conduct staff evaluations
  • Coordinate volunteer activities
  • Promote a clean and safe environment

Camp Leader Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the camp grounds, amenities, and facilities, including staff housing and sleeping quarters, indoor pool, tennis courts, arts and craft facilities, and fitness equipment
  • Conduct daily and weekly staff meetings
  • Manage and facilitate children’s play, sports activities, and participation in camp activities
  • Enforce the established safety and behavior standards, including dietary restrictions
  • Maintain and update the IPM plan

Requirements And Skills:

  • 2+ years experience working with youth/teens in a leadership role
  • Understanding of camp activities and environment
  • Strong leadership, delegating, and organizing skills
  • Strong communication skills
