Job Brief:

We're looking for a cancer registrar who is passionate about their work and who is excited to help us in our fight against cancer.

Cancer Registrar Duties:

  • Support the cancer care team by collecting, organizing, and summarizing patient information
  • Review medical records and hospital charts
  • Maintain accurate and complete records
  • Develop and maintain cancer registry data bank
  • Review and approve medical records for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to established standards
  • Maintain records of appeals, grievances, and litigation
  • Evaluate information to suggest appropriate future services
  • Establish and maintain communication with patients, families, providers, and other groups

Cancer Registrar Responsibilities:

  • Attend multidisciplinary case conferences, conferences with patients, and one-on-one consultations with patients, families, and other advocates, as well as participate in all quality assurance processes
  • Maintain and update physician order sets, develop and revise policies and procedures, and train staff in relevant areas
  • Integrate with other departments, such as radiology, pathology, and laboratories, in addition to outside resources
  • Provide administrative support to senior leadership
  • Acquire and maintain certifications, including ACR and ANCC

Requirements And Skills:

  • Experience in a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Basic clinical knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
  • Ability to schedule and direct the work of two Clinical Coding Specialists
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both Doctors and patients
  • Proven ability to determine accurate coding for procedures, and labs
