Cardiothoracic Surgeon Duties:

  • Perform surgeries such as heart, lung, and chest surgeries
  • Perform cardiac catheterizations
  • Perform esophageal, gastric, and esophageal surgeries
  • Perform duodenal, stomach, and gastrointestinal operations
  • Perform adrenal and parathyroid surgeries
  • Perform aorta, renal, and vascular surgeries
  • Perform pediatric and adolescent surgeries
  • Perform robotic surgery

Cardiothoracic Surgeon Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and continually improve interpersonal skills with patients, families, staff, and physicians, so as to foster teamwork and cooperation
  • Interview patients to assess their suitability for surgery, develop treatment plans, prepare operative and post-operative surgical plans, and present the plans to the referring physician for approval
  • Perform surgeries utilizing surgical techniques based on sound judgment, clinical expertise, and on review of current surgical practice guidelines
  • Perform complex operations with emphasis on early detection, appropriate treatment, and accurate surgical technique
  • Prepare, manage, and document patient care throughout the surgical experience
  • Assist in the development and update of department policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the director or the surgeon-in-charge

Requirements And Skills:

  • MD or DO degree required
  • 3+ years’ clinical experience
  • Applicant must have completed cardiac surgical and critical care fellowships
  • Surgical training experience
  • A valid medical license
  • Evidence of patient care and teaching abilities
