Cardiovascular Surgeon Responsibilities:

  • Perform procedures within a sterile operating environment, including cardiac catheterization, aortic aneurysm repair, valve replacement, and minimally-invasive approaches
  • Establish and maintain appropriate and efficient working relationships with all members of the care team, including nurses, perfusionists, radiologists, and other specialists
  • Consult with patients, their families, and other members of the care team
  • Develop and implement original research studies that advance research, knowledge, and patient care
  • Submit and approve clinical research protocol, protocol amendments, and study reports
  • Participate in clinical research governance activities to maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
  • Perform medical staff and hospital committee responsibilities
  • Inform, educate, and collaborate with other clinicians on clinical procedures, diagnostic approaches, treatment protocols, and outcomes
  • Participate in educational programs to present educational sessions at medical meetings, conferences, and symposia

Requirements And Skills:

  • Doctorate in surgery, anesthesiology
  • Certification in Cardiovascular Disease Surgery
  • Subspecialty accreditation in Cardiovascular Disease
  • Current license to practice medicine or surgery in the 50 states or the District of Columbia
  • Current membership in professional societies
