Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Job Description

A chief financial officer (or CFO) is an executive hired by a company to help it handle its finances.

The CFO is responsible for managing a company's debts and contingencies.

And is in charge of coordinating the efforts of all departments involved with financial affairs.

The CFO also often assists the company's outside auditors in preparing the annual financial statements and ensuring that the company is in compliance with all regulatory and compliance requirements.

Since the CFO has oversight of the entire organization's finances, he or she must be skilled in management, accounting, and legal matters.

Job Brief:

We're looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team and help us take our company to the next level. As our CFO, you will be responsible for overseeing our financial operations, including our budgeting, accounting, and investment activities. You will also play a key role in developing and implementing our long-term financial strategy. If you are a strategic thinker with a passion for finance, we want you on our team!

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Duties:

  • Manage financial reporting and accounting functions for the organization
  • Produce timely and accurate financial reports and statements
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable operations
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures
  • Analyze financial data using a variety of methods
  • Research and resolve problems and make recommendations
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with key clients/business partners
  • Provide support to management through special projects
  • Perform other duties as needed/assigned

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial operations of the company, managing day-to-day cash flow, financial reporting, and investor reporting
  • Manage all financial operations, reviewing all invoices and expenses for payment, reconcile and report all bank accounts, and prepare and submit monthly closing and quarterly investor reports
  • Maintain all company records, ensure all financial documents, including leases and contracts, are accurately recorded and filed, inspect all financial documents for proper consistency, and ensure all financial and tax filings are completed
  • Oversee all human resources functions, including hiring, training and development, compensation, benefits, and compliance with all employment laws
  • Develop annual budgets and assist with monthly and quarterly cash flow forecasting, including monitoring P&L, IMA, and SOP variances

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • 7+ years in CFO or other senior financial management position
  • Exposure to basic accounting principles, including GAAP, SOX, and similar statutory rules
  • Extensive exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
