We’re looking for a Choir Director to help us lead our weekly rehearsals and performances. The ideal candidate will have a strong musical background and be able to work with a wide range of vocal abilities. If you have a passion for music and working with people, we want to hear from you!

Choir Director Duties:

  • Create and lead music ministry teams
  • Create and oversee music curriculum and instructional materials
  • Develop resources to nurture the spiritual growth of the congregation
  • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with the school staff, parents, and students
  • Promote a spirit of unity within the music ministry team

Choir Director Responsibilities:

  • Select, train, and inspire a choir of volunteers (including adult and youth singers) to perform a wide variety of music at seasonal celebrations, special events, and concerts
  • Plan and manage rehearsals and performances in collaboration with other church staff and volunteers
  • Plan and implement creative and effective programs to engage adult and youth members, including Sunday School programs, youth choir, and musical ensembles
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to build the choir and program
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with teachers, students, parents, and other members of the church
  • Establish successful, professional relationships with churches, community groups, and civic organizations
  • Work with church pastors to build momentum and innovative programs
  • Create and maintain program budgets and fundraising plans

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in music education, voice, or related field
  • 5+ years’ proven experience directing choirs in worship ministry
  • Knowledge of effective vocal pedagogy and an understanding of singing kinesiology
  • Knowledge of choral repertoire and choral conducting styles
