A controls engineer is an individual who develops control systems for equipment.

Controls engineers work with managers, other engineers, and contractors to design, develop, test, and validate controls systems.

These individuals develop a systems-level view of the equipment’s control system, and validate and demonstrate its reliability, safety, and security.

Controls engineers are also known as controls specialists.

They are responsible for ensuring the reliability of an automated system through design, development, testing, and installation.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Controls Engineer to work with our team to develop innovative solutions to complex problems. As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of controls systems. You will work closely with other engineers and technicians to ensure that the controls systems meet the needs of the customer.

Controls Engineer Duties:

  • Use project-specific knowledge and existing control systems to create and oversee the implementation of automated control systems
  • Develop automated control systems for buildings and improve the building automation system through data analysis
  • Plan and implement control systems to increase efficiency, productivity, and effectiveness
  • Implement computer systems for control and monitoring
  • Attend training and seminars, and continuing education programs
  • Develop and implement automation systems
  • Maintain records and documentation
  • Identify/analyze problems and recommend solutions
  • Resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Maintain records
  • Provide training to staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Controls Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Implement process control systems and control hardware upgrades
  • Assist in project management, auditing, and site supervision
  • Maintain and analyze operational data
  • Assist in the resolution of problems and in the performance evaluation of staff
  • Design and install control systems
  • Train personnel
  • Maintain and update process diagrams, operational manuals, and standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience with control systems design, development, implementation, testing and commissioning
  • Knowledge of process control systems, instrumentation, control wiring, network communications, and control systems software
  • Knowledge of automation equipment, such as programmable
