Courtesy clerks typically assist customers at retail establishments.

They may have one primary role—assisting customers—or may have several roles, including answering telephones, restocking shelves, and processing returns.

A courtesy clerk must demonstrate an ability to multitask, maintain constant eye contact with customers, and greet customers with a smile.

Other duties may include helping customers navigate the store, directing customers to specific sections, and assisting customers when they become confused or need help.

Job Brief:

We're looking for aCourtesy Clerk to join our team! The Courtesy Clerk is responsible for providing our customers with a positive shopping experience. They will provide excellent customer service by maintaining a clean and orderly store, stocking shelves, and keeping the sales floor free of debris. The Courtesy Clerk will also assist with loading and unloading trucks, and will perform other duties as assigned.

Courtesy Clerk Duties:

  • Fulfills responsibilities through following company policies and procedures, maintaining records of transactions, maintaining communication, A/R and A/P, and answering telephones
  • Delivers superior customer service and follows up on customer inquiries
  • Prepares and mails letters, invoices, and other correspondence
  • Maintains effective customer relationships, providing accurate, up-to-date information
  • Maintains confidentiality, adheres to all company policies and procedures, and maintains a sense of pride in their work

Courtesy Clerk Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers with scheduling appointments, answering questions, collecting payments, and other duties
  • Maintain a clean and orderly lobby
  • Conduct regular audits of phone messages to make sure customers receive prompt service
  • Prepare and submit timely reports
  • Research and resolve issues as they arise
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills in interactions with customers, coworkers, and management

  • 5+ years’ proven customer service experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
