A crane operator, or crane operator, is a person who operates cranes and other lifting equipment at construction sites and in industry.

Crane Operator Duties:

  • Perform equipment maintenance, repairs, and inspections
  • Develop and follow safe operating procedures
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot cranes, rigging equipment, and hoisting systems
  • Train and instruct new employees on equipment operation
  • Perform safety inspections and audits of equipment
  • Communicate with customer representatives and colleagues

Crane Operator Responsibilities:

  • Operate handling equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and hoists, operating and relocating loads
  • Follow all safety protocols and industry quality control standards
  • Provide necessary documentation, such as daily logs, daily reports, and daily inspection reports
  • Track, inspect, and complete all necessary paperwork, purchase orders, and logs
  • Conduct routine equipment maintenance, repairs, and inspections
  • Carry out any requested safety checks, preventive maintenance, and repairs
  • Fully understand all safety regulations
  • Work as a team player at all times, and interact well with peers, management, and customers
  • Complete all mandatory training

Requirements And Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ crane operating experience
  • Valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement
  • Ability to pass DOT forklift certification
  • Ability to pass DOT crane certification
  • Knowledge of rigging, lifting, and rigging equipment
  • Knowledge of crane
