Crime Analyst Job Description

A crime analyst is an individual or department of an organization whose purpose is to investigate and prosecute a crime.

A crime analyst assists with identifying suspects, building cases, and presenting evidence to a judge.

People in law enforcement typically work under the direction of a crime analyst.

Police and FBI agents, for example, work alongside crime analysts.

Other professionals, including detectives, and evidence technicians, may also be crime analysts.

Some consider crime analysis to be a specialized form of forensic analysis and crime scene investigation.

However, it differs from forensic analysis in that the analyst and investigator are of the same investigative team and work together from the ground up.
