Criminal Investigator Duties:

  • Investigate and investigate crimes, including crimes involving neglect, financial abuse, and elder abuse
  • Interview victims of crime or witnesses to crimes to obtain as much information as possible
  • Interview suspects to determine the nature of their involvement
  • Prepare written reports detailing investigations
  • Proceed with legal proceedings
  • Collect evidence for court
  • Prepare testimony in court
  • Attend court proceedings

Criminal Investigator Responsibilities:

  • Interview sources, subjects, and witnesses to gather and analyze information on suspected criminal, civil, and regulatory violations
  • Conduct preliminary investigations, generate preliminary reports, and make presentations
  • Write reports, correspondence, affidavits, and subpoenas, and submit them to appropriate agencies
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and business community
  • Procure and analyze financial information, including reviewing financial records, tax returns, bank statements, and reports
  • Prepare and receive evidence
  • Assist in locating witnesses and fugitives
  • Coordinate with other investigators, attorneys, and support staff

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field
  • 3+ years’ investigative experience
  • Experience in cold-case investigations
  • Experience with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
