A dance instructor is a person who teaches people to dance.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Dance Instructor to teach a variety of dance styles to students of all ages and abilities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about dance and have the ability to inspire and motivate students to reach their full potential. They will also be able to create fun and engaging lessons that are tailored to the individual needs of each student.

Dance Instructor Duties:

  • Develop curriculum to inspire the dancers
  • Promote the dance program to the community and through public appearances
  • Assist in recruiting and retention of dancers
  • Maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal schedules for dancers
  • Provide participants with feedback and assistance as necessary
  • Maintain records of attendance, performance, and income
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned

Dance Instructor Responsibilities:

  • Assist with curriculum development and coordination of classroom and field instruction
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute creative dance activities with a focus on age-appropriate skill-building and discipline and on increasing self-esteem and self-awareness
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and records
  • Instruct multicultural groups and individuals with disabilities
  • Work with teachers and other staff to create and implement classroom and field curricula
  • Instruct fundamental dance techniques and choreography to students in group and individual settings
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, faculty, students, colleagues, and the public
  • Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment at all times
  • Attend staff development workshops and in-service training
  • Oversee daily school activities, including arrival and dismissal procedures, meal service, and recess
  • Develop and execute school dances
  • Operate and supervise school equipment, including audio/visual equipment,

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in dance, or related field
  • Experience instructing dance classes
  • Experience teaching dance to a variety of ages and skill levels
  • Ability to be creative and forward thinking
  • Ability to effectively communicate
