Delivery drivers are people who drive trucks, vans, or other vehicles to make deliveries.
However, some delivery drivers make recurring deliveries, such as weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Becoming a delivery driver means a driver delivers items to customers, such as produce, dry goods, furniture, and beverages. Some delivery drivers deliver items directly to customers at a specific location, such as a home, office, or business. Others deliver goods to warehouses or distribution centers, then deliver them to customers.
Becoming a delivery driver requires additional training, such as truck driving, first aid.
Job Brief:
We're looking for a Delivery Driver who is willing to work long hours and is comfortable driving in all weather conditions. The ideal candidate will have a clean driving record and be able to lift heavy packages.
Delivery Driver Job Objectives:
- Drive trucks appropriately, follow all traffic laws and rules, and successfully meet all organizational safety requirements
- Mete out instructions regarding loading, unloading, and inventory of materials
- Conduct safety inspections and report any violations
- Build relationships with customers by delivering orders on time and following through on special requests
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including being available to customers 24/7
- Keep accurate records of the delivery process, including materials delivered, containers used, log books, and expense reports
- Keep accurate records of all paperwork, including billings
- Ensure compliance with all company regulations, including vehicle maintenance
Delivery Driver Job Responsibilities:
- Drive the delivery vehicles, perform delivery, pickup, and unload duties, and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements
- Maintain a clean driving record, and adhere to company policies
- Maintain an accurate log of deliveries
- Deliver equipment and materials to customers and job sites in a timely manner with minimal customer contact
- Maintain office inventory
- Assist with administrative activities
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements And Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- A CDL Class A/B/C with passenger endorsement
