Dental Assistant Duties:

  • Provide dental care to assigned patients in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Assist licensed dentist in all aspects of patient care
  • Install and remove any non-dental devices prescribed by dentist
  • Take x-rays and perform root canals as instructed by the dentist
  • Remove sutures and perform other post operative procedures
  • Provide assistance, as needed, to physicians during examination and treatment procedures
  • Check patients in and out, perform intake and registration
  • Complete patient histories and requisition forms
  • Complete and mail/fax billing and insurance forms
  • Answer telephones, take messages, and schedule appointments
  • Provide patients with patient information and answer questions
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dentist

Dental Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for dental treatment, including taking dental x-rays, pouring intraoral and topical gels, applying sealants and fluorides, and collecting dental impressions
  • Ensure that equipment, supplies, waste, and disposables are properly stored, handled, and disposed of
  • Assist the dentist and hygienist during treatment
  • Instruct patients on proper oral care
  • Instruct and supervise students
  • Assist with patient billing

Requirements And Skills:

  • Must have 2 years experience as a Dental Assistant
