Diesel Mechanic Duties:

• Maintain and repair diesel engines, transmissions, and related equipment.
• Participate in field testing and performance analysis.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of various equipment.
• Develop and follow test procedures for diagnoses.
• Develop and follow work schedules for preventive maintenance.
• Identify and communicate with manufacturers and other engine service professionals.
• Assist in developing and implementing training programs and procedures.
• Maintain and update job equipment lists.

Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:

• Preparing vehicles for road travel, towing, and off-road use, including servicing and maintaining engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, heating, cooling, and electrical units.
• Diagnosing complex problems and diagnosing solutions and components to improve vehicle performance, efficiency, and reliability.
• Performing routine maintenance to inspected and repaired vehicles.
• Applying knowledge of mechanical principles, tools, and procedures to complete assigned work.
• Maintaining accurate operating and maintenance records.
• Actively participating in safety programs.
• Working cooperatively and effectively with other team members.

Requirements And Skills:

• Proven experience independently repairing vehicles.
• Knowledge of diesel engine systems and components.
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair engine problems.
• Proven ability to use hand and power tools.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality work.
• Ability to work safely and carefully.
• Knowledge of basic electronics.
