Job Brief:

We're looking for a qualified Director of Engineering to lead our engineering team and oversee all engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the engineering field and be able to provide strong leadership and direction to our team of engineers. Director of Engineering Duties:

  • Develop the engineering department's strategic plan by analyzing organizational strengths and weaknesses
  • Ensure that the department's management, policies, and processes are constantly reviewed and updated
  • Develop the engineering department's budget
  • Evaluate and recommend engineering systems and procedures
  • Manage and oversee engineers
  • Provide effective feedback to others on engineering practices to improve work efficiency
  • Manage engineering contracts and budgets
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments and client groups
  • Promote the engineering department

Director of Engineering Responsibilities:

  • Drive project execution by managing the activities of multiple engineers and CAD technicians
  • Assign projects and monitor progress of assigned engineers
  • Manage daily workload, including assigning tasks and priorities, tracking progress and anticipating needs
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and contractors
  • Conduct meetings with clients, job site personnel, and engineers to identify and resolve issues
  • Provide leadership for a designated territory
  • Coordinate the hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluation of engineering employees
  • Develop and manage a budget
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years’ proven experience in engineering management
  • Strong technical background with focus on structural design, the ability to perform structural analysis, and knowledge of building code requirements
  • Skilled in the use of computer aided drafting and design applications
