Director of Facilities Duties:

  • Provide leadership and organization to facilities department
  • Maintain high morale among staff, vendors, and clients
  • Provide direction to facility department
  • Manage facility projects
  • Identify and implement improvements and reductions to operating costs
  • Identify and address operational problems
  • Ensure compliance with company policy, legal regulations, building codes, and safety requirements
  • Liaise between clients, vendors, and company management
  • Research, analyze, and resolve facility issues
  • Prepare budgets for facility-related projects and oversee their implementation

Director of Facilities Responsibilities:

  • Manage a real estate portfolio, including lease negotiations, rent collection, and tenant issues
  • Manage the maintenance and repair of buildings, interior and exterior, including building systems and infrastructure, parking, landscaping, and exterior lighting
  • Prepare operating budgets, capital expenditures, and property disposition plans
  • Manage all expenses related to personal property, such as furniture, equipment, software, and technology, acquire and maintain licenses, and arrange for installation
  • Report on the condition of property as financial conditions change
  • Protect property from damage by tenants or other parties

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 5+ years experience in management of new construction and remodeling projects
  • Knowledge of construction methods and technologies, and ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a constant eye on quality
