Environmental Specialist Duties:

  • Monitor and report on compliance with environmental laws and regulations
  • Conduct audits and inspections of company and client operations
  • Develop and implement effective programs to reduce waste
  • Develop and implement effective guidelines and procedures to ensure effective management of waste

Environmental Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Identify and mitigate potential environmental liabilities related to operations; ensure proper disposal practices are met, and report any non-compliance
  • Make regular safety inspections, including hazardous material inventory, spill response, and emergency response
  • Maintain and update HAZCOM and MSDS files; conduct HAZWOPER training
  • Understand and comply with environmental laws and regulations
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910, 1926, and 1910.1200
  • Encourage and promote environmental consciousness among employees
  • Operate and maintain safety equipment

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, or public health
  • 2+ years’ proven experience in environmental program management
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Ability to manage complex operations with multiple sub-projects and teams
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations
