A firefighter is a person who practices firefighting.

Firefighters are generalists who respond to fires and other emergencies.

Firefighters also respond to emergency medical services (EMS) emergencies where a patient has been injured, disrupts a squad, or is critically ill.

Firefighters, also known as firefighters and firefighters’ assistants (FAs), work in conjunction with other emergency services personnel, such as emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics, paramedics assistants, and emergency medical services dispatchers (EMS dispatchers).

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Firefighter to join our team!

Firefighter Duties:

  • Protect life and property by extinguishing fires, rescuing people from accidents, and/or responding to hazardous conditions, quickly and competently; using prescribed methods and equipment
  • Inform and educate the public about fire and life safety
  • Proactively investigate fires and other incidents, determining probable causes
  • Train and supervise volunteers in firefighting and related skills
  • Maintain accountability of all tools and equipment
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Firefighter Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergency situations on site, driving firetrucks, pumpers, tankers, and other apparatus, and perform related rescue functions
  • Analyze emergency situations and formulate plans to assist other public safety personnel
  • Enforce regulations, codes, and standards governing fire protection
  • Respond to alarms and assigned calls for service
  • Train and monitor assigned personnel
  • Organize equipment and materials
  • Capable of performing functions independently
  • Able to perform at a high level of public safety

Requirements And Skills:

  • Class A or B CDL
  • 1-2 years experience as a firefighter
  • Prior experience in the Army National Guard
  • Prior fire suppression experience
  • Prior law enforcement experience
