Food Preparation Worker Duties:

  • Prepare food according to recipe, preparing customer’s order, using appropriate measuring and portioning devices
  • Instruct customers on cooking methods, preparation techniques, and food safety
  • Promote sales by answering questions about ingredients, preparation, and serving sizes
  • Promote a safe and clean kitchen environment by controlling hazardous foods, cleaning equipment, and employee areas

Food Preparation Worker Responsibilities:

  • Recommends food preparation procedures; assists cooks in food preparation according to recipes; replenishes supplies; cleans kitchen, dining room, and work areas; and stocks supplies

Requirements And Skills:

  • Previous experience as a cook
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
