Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Hospital Sitter to help us out during the day. We need someone who can sit with our patients and make sure they’re comfortable. If you’re interested, please let us know.

Hospital Sitter Duties:

  • Attend to and supervise patients, residents, guests, and family members
  • Monitor and assess patients’ needs
  • Provide physical, emotional, and social support
  • Write reports on patients’ condition and status
  • Communicate with medical, nursing, and other personnel on patients’ care
  • Assist with inventory control
  • Investigate and resolve problems
  • Report any malfunctions to appropriate person

Hospital Sitter Responsibilities:

  • Attend to and/or feed, groom, and dress pets in patient areas during shift, as needed
  • Encourage pets to express instinctual behavior, such as chewing, scratching, or urinating
  • Act as liaison between pets and their owners, alerting primary caregiver and veterinarian of changes in patient behavior
  • Provide simple care for pets, such as washing, brushing, and bathing
  • Literarily inspect equipment, report any deficiencies, and report any accidents
  • Perform procedures for animal quarantine, including spaying/neutering
  • Maintain and clean animal quarters
  • Clean animal cages, provide fresh water, and administer medications, when necessary
