An Intake Coordinator is the person who oversees the intake department of a hospital or healthcare facility.

The Intake Coordinator may perform the following:· Collects admissions, transfers, and billing information from patient charts.

· Manages the scheduling of patient appointments.

· Processes claims and referrals.

· Identifies potential and existing patients.

· Serves as a liaison between the physician and the billing department.

· Tracks and approves all clinical documentation.

Intake Coordinator Duties:

  • Take and process all intakes and field notes, including collecting medical, cultural, and legal information
  • Provide immediate referrals and follow-up for potential clients, arranging for medical examinations, available housing, and legal counsel
  • Answer calls, respond to walk-ins, and schedule appointments for potential clients
  • Coordinate with partners for client referrals
  • Analyze intake forms for referral eligibility
  • Perform other duties pertaining to intake as necessary

Intake Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional assessments of clients rendered in timely manner
  • Advise clients of eligibility requirements and oversee enrollment and placement processes
  • Communicate with potential employers and clients to schedule interviews and maintain positive relationships
  • Maintain accurate client records, update records, and assist with report preparation
  • Perform clerical duties, such as data entry, photocopying, faxing, and filing
  • Research, compile, and organize data for reports
  • Assist with special projects and plans, including new program launches
