The Inventory Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory counts, ensuring inventory is ticketed properly and entered into the inventory system correctly.

The inventory clerk will also identify and reconcile discrepancies in inventory and handle any discrepancies that are found.

Inventory clerks use a variety of computer programs that manage inventory.

Inventory Clerk Duties:

  • Analyze sales and inventory data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities
  • Sort, count, and duplicate inventory
  • Keep records on materials used in construction
  • Keep records on new materials and inventory
  • Follow safety rules and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Inventory Clerk Responsibilities:

  • Over 1 year of experience in a retail environment
  • Ability to operate computer equipment, including use of cash register
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Must be able to remain alert and attentive

Requirements And Skills:

  • Maintain inventory control for distribution center with responsibility for keeping accurate inventory counts and maintaining the supply flow between distribution centers and retail stores
  • Create SKU and UPC codes for products, and create and maintain SKU and UPC databases
  • Prepare manifests for shipments
  • Create and issue purchase orders and update PO system
  • Maintain inventory records for suppliers
  • Work with vendors to resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Work with distribution center staff to resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Maintain a license certification
  • Manage warehouse space
  • Maintain a warehouse environment conducive to productivity
