Key Account Specialist Job Description

A Key account specialist is an individual dedicated to marketing, selling, and supporting a specific type of customer.

The idea behind key account management is that if you can develop strong relationships with a select number of customers, you build your brand, increase profitability, and gain a competitive advantage in your industry.

A key account manager works with a single, or a few, extremely large customers, as opposed to the company wide accounts used by other types of account managers.

Key account managers are responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with their key accounts.

They are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day interactions between the customers and the companies, such as service, sales, and marketing.

Job Brief:

We're looking for Key Account Specialist to help manage and grow relationships with our most important customers. Key Account Specialist will be responsible for identifying opportunities to increase sales and customer satisfaction, developing and executing account plans, and managing account teams.

Key Account Specialist Duties:

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with key accounts to ensure long-term, mutually beneficial relationships
  • Promote company services, products, and opportunities to key accounts
  • Identify and develop relationships and collaborate with key account contacts
  • Set up and maintain customer channels
  • Execute sales and marketing strategies
  • Develop and oversee project management
  • Keep abreast of developments in territory, industry, and competitive activities
  • Maintain and update client information in the database
  • Manage the fulfillment of sales orders
  • Develop and oversee marketing budgets
  • Support special projects
  • Support fundraising efforts
  • Support client’s disaster recovery efforts
  • Make presentations to groups of clients and other industry related contacts
  • Develop and maintain long-term business relationships

Key Account Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Keep in touch with clients to develop and maintain long-term client relationships
  • Manage clients’ expectations by thoroughly explaining process, identifying and mitigating challenges, and establishing clear communication lines
  • Market, sell, and service clients’ projects, and negotiate for future business
  • Provide complete project information to engineers and construction managers for use in project planning
  • Prepare budget proposals and estimates based on time, materials, labor, and subcontractor charges

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Finance, Business Administration or Accounting
  • 2+ years’ proven experience in retail sales, customer service, or sales management
