A lab technician is an individual who operates or helps operate a laboratory.

A lab technician may perform tests, perform experiments, or operate instruments in a laboratory.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Lab Technician to work in our research and development department. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a laboratory setting and be able to perform complex experiments. They will also be responsible for maintaining the lab equipment and keeping accurate records of all experiments conducted.

Lab Technician Duties:

  • Performs analytical laboratory testing on samples
  • Analyze all results for proper interpretation
  • Refine results using additional testing if necessary
  • Maintain accurate records of sample history
  • Communicate results to managers and other medical personnel
  • Perform routine inspections of laboratory facilities
  • Work independently and make accurate conclusions from your own findings
  • Follow all safety requirements
  • Accept responsibility for the promotion of occupational health and safety

Lab Technician Responsibilities:

  • Identify, characterize, and purify native organisms, viruses, and cell components using a variety of techniques including chemical and physical separation and purification
  • Conduct routine tests and analyses on samples, using instrumentation such as microscopes and chromatographic equipment
  • Conduct routine inventory and quality control checks for samples, supplies, and instruments
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory instrumentation, equipment, and facilities
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment, including testing, cleaning, calibration, and adjustments
  • Maintain and update quality control records
  • Perform routine reporting duties

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in science, biology, chemistry, or a related field
  • 2+ years experience in a laboratory setting
  • Good working knowledge of lab instruments and procedures
  • Ability to work effectively under stressful situations
  • Ability to perform administrative duties
  • Good oral and written communication skills
