A lifeguard is responsible for the safety of people who may be in or around a body of water.

A lifeguard typically stands on a lifeguard stand and watches people.

They are responsible for warning people who may be in danger, providing first aid care, and notifying authorities of an injured person who may be in danger.

Lifeguards are often stationed near construction sites, beaches, pools, lakes, and rivers to keep people safe.

Lifeguards also may patrol in boats.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Lifeguard to work at our pool this summer.

Lifeguard Duties:

  • Implement and maintain the duties and requirements of lifeguards, including performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, and emergency action plans
  • Monitor and report the status of all swimmers in a specific area
  • Direct all swimmers in designated area and instruct them, as needed, in proper swim techniques and safety procedures
  • Report all injuries and accidents to supervisors
  • Meet all customer and guest service standards
  • Ensure all pool equipment is in working order
  • Maintain accurate records of all pool activities
  • Maintain cleanliness of pool area
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Lifeguard Responsibilities:

  • Provide lifesaving, first aid, and lifesaving skills to patrons, supervise swimmers in assigned areas, and assist in enforcing area rules
  • Attend training courses and seminars, and maintain CPR/AED certifications
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, and ensure equipment is in working condition
  • Notify management upon any emergencies
  • Report and document all injuries, accidents, hazardous conditions, incidents, and illnesses immediately
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements And Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous lifeguard experience preferred
  • Must meet water safety certifications
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends
  • Must be 18 years of age
