Linux Administrator is the professional who manages, maintains, and also installs Linux servers on a client network.

A Linux administrator will be responsible for setting up servers, installing servers, creating and implementing Linux configurations, setting up databases, networking servers, and troubleshooting.

The Linux administrator will also configure firewalls, update Linux, and administer security.

We’re looking for a Linux Administrator to join our team and help us manage our Linux servers. We’re a growing company and our Linux servers are critical to our operations. The right candidate will have experience administering Linux servers and be able to help us troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise. Linux Administrator Duties:

  • Manage, support, and maintain Linux installed systems
  • Install, upgrade, and maintain Linux based systems
  • Ensure security of systems and data
  • Manage system backups, restore, and recovery
  • Manage and maintain printers and scanners
  • Manage user accounts, groups, and services
  • Manage and maintain storage
  • Work with users to resolve account/system issues
  • Provide support on all Linux applications and UNIX based applications
  • Provide support to users on basic and advanced desktop and server tasks
  • Assist with Linux server administration tasks
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Linux Administrator Responsibilities:

  • Help troubleshoot problems with Linux servers, running various versions of Linux, including Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian, and SuSE
  • Engage in continuous testing of new Linux versions and applications on an on-demand basis
  • Perform change control
  • Assist with user management, such as creating accounts for new hires and training seasoned professionals on company policies
  • Install and maintain servers
  • Help automate server maintenance, including running scripts and automated processes
  • Maintain server uptime and network performance
  • Assist with server documentation
  • Maintain server security
  • Ensure all administrative procedures are followed
  • Document all server incidents and outages

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 2+ years of Linux System Administration experience
  • Experience with Linux system architecture
  • Experience with Linux-based VPN clients, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, filesystems, and authentication
  • Experience with Linux
