A math teacher is a teacher of mathematics.
Math teachers are not necessarily required to have completed a math degree, although most do.
Instead, they need a high school diploma and a college degree in a subject related to math, such as mathematics, statistics, or physics.
Math teachers must be registered with their local school board and pass a credentials test.
Many states require teachers to hold a state-issued teaching certificate.
State certification and licensing requirements vary by state.
Some states also require that teachers complete additional coursework in teaching math to students with disabilities, and that teachers complete additional coursework in teaching math for preschool to 5th grade
