A medical biller is responsible for transmitting medical claims and following up with insurance companies on the payments.

A medical biller also gathers and compiles data regarding insurance companies.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Medical Biller to join our team! As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for submitting claims to insurance companies and following up on unpaid claims. You will also be responsible for keeping track of patient payments and billing patients for any unpaid balances.

Medical Biller Duties:

  • Perform duties of a medical biller to schedule appointments, prepare patient charts, and follow up with insurance companies and patient accounts
  • Assist with billing, tracking, and collecting receivables
  • Prepare reports on patient progress, diagnoses, and procedures
  • Compile, research, and manage data in order to accomplish various administrative tasks
  • Perform all administrative duties including, but not limited to, filing, record keeping, and scheduling
  • Ensure that organizational and departmental policies are adhered to

Medical Biller Responsibilities:

  • Medical billing and coding certificate from accredited school
  • 2-3 years’ medical billing experience
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 codes
  • Highly skilled with Excel and MS Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail

Requirements And Skills:

  • Process medical claims, including reviewing and coding them
  • Assist physicians with ongoing consultations regarding claim processing
  • Collect copays, deductibles, and invoices from patients
  • Prepare and send correspondence regarding claim processing
  • Assist with authorizations and follow-up
  • Remain knowledgeable on coding changes and implement accordingly
