We are looking for a Medical Office Specialist to provide support to our medical office staff. The Medical Office Specialist will be responsible for answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and providing general office support. Medical Office Specialist Duties:

  • Work actively with physicians, nurses, and others who provide patient care
  • Provide administrative and clinical patient care support
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients
  • Screen patients, verify insurance eligibility, collect copays, and bill insurance carriers
  • Assist patients with scheduling appointments
  • Ensure that patient records, patient charts, and client files are accurate and up-to-date
  • Document all activities
  • Maintain accurate and complete records, documents, and reports
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and personnel information
  • Complete special projects as assigned
  • Enforce clinic policies and procedures by following guidelines and standards

  • Perform high-volume administrative work including file maintenance, insurance verification, and insurance billing.
  • Prescribe medications, maintain prescription stock, and communicate with other physicians and staff.
  • Maintain patient records, including emergency, insurance, and other pertinent information.
  • Track current and outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical field
  • 2+ years experience in a healthcare or medical office setting
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of medical billing systems, including office management systems and EMR systems
