Medical Secretary Duties:

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals

  • Handle insurance claims, billing, and collections

  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, doctors, and other healthcare professionals

Medical Secretary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee administrative and medical records functions, and serve as liaison between clinicians and insurance companies
  • Manage patient scheduling, including triage, appointment scheduling, and re-bookings
  • Maintain medical records, billing records, and other records as required by regulatory agencies
  • Manage patient correspondence; liaise with insurance companies; and confirm provider orders
  • Research and resolve complicated billing and insurance issues
  • Create and maintain medical records in accordance with federal and state regulations
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Attend training sessions as required
