A mortgage closer is a real estate professional who helps facilitate the process of finalizing a mortgage.

As the title suggests, a mortgage closer is tasked with closing a real estate transaction, and this closing usually happens after the purchase of the property, including arranging for the buyer’s mortgage, title insurance, and property insurance.

The mortgage closer is also tasked with ensuring that the buyer is aware that they have to keep the mortgage current and that the property insurance policy must be renewed.

Finally, the mortgage closer is responsible for certifying that the title has been properly transferred and that the buyer is carrying title insurance.

  • Post and close loans
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in loan file
  • Keep accurate records of transactions
  • Provide information to clients upon request or as requested

Mortgage Closer Responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients to explain mortgage products and services
  • Identify and qualify customers for mortgage financing by writing and submitting financing applications
  • Prepare loan documents and process applications by gathering and analyzing required documentation, calculating customer qualifications, calculating payments, setting up credit accounts, and requesting verifications
  • Verify and process applications, closing documents, and disclosures with customers

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration
  • 2+ years experience in mortgage industry
