An MRI technologist is the one who operates MRI machines, and is responsible for making sure that the patient is safe during the procedure.

MRI Technologist Duties:

  • Performs ionizing radiation treatment procedures on patients, using diagnostic imaging equipment to provide diagnostic information

  • Performs all duties in accordance with current standards of practice, policies and procedures, and hospital guidelines

Requirements And Skills:

  • Perform MRI scans safely while operating magnetic resonance imaging equipment
  • Complete patient intake, examination, and report forms
  • Maintain safety standards, including proper use of safeguards, equipment, cleaning, procedures, and documentation
  • Utilize reporting tools including PACS and EMR systems to send magnetic resonance images to specialists
  • Perform other forms of imaging, such as CT or ultrasound
  • Assist with office administration and billing functions
