Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Network Specialist who can help us improve our network infrastructure. This person will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our network systems. They will also need to be able to troubleshoot any problems that arise.

Network Specialist Duties:

  • Manage and maintain all networking hardware, including routers, switches, and other network hardware
  • Manage and maintain all networking software, including database, servers, and other network software
  • Perform network-related security audits, tests, and analyses
  • Research, identify, and propose new network technologies and software
  • Maintain configuration and security standards within network
  • Design, develop, and implement new network architectures and processes
  • Oversee and coordinate all network-related projects
  • Maintain and update inventories of all network hardware, software, and settings
  • Provide documentation of network operations, procedures, and policies
  • Perform network backups, restore, and redundancy testing
  • Ensure all applicable operating system patches, fixes, and updates are installed
  • Provide ongoing network support to employees (particularly remote users) including troubleshooting

Network Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Implement network security controls according to established policies and procedures
  • Maintain network security by monitoring and responding to all security incidents, tracking and maintaining logs, and attending security meetings
  • Govern and document security network devices and software, and oversee backup and recovery procedures
  • Supervise network team, including hiring, training, career development, and performance evaluation
  • Conduct network risk assessments to identify weaknesses and mitigate risks
  • Prepare reports regarding network security

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in networking required
  • 10+ years experience with Cisco and/or Juniper
  • Ability to assist with network design, troubleshooting, and capacity planning
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain computer networks
