Owner Operator Job Description

A commercial truck driver who operates his or her vehicle on his or her own, rather than driving for an employer.

Owner-operators, also known as [solo drivers] are contracted drivers that operate a truck and lead their own rig.

These drivers control all aspects of their business.

Owner-operators are not considered employees by their employer; rather, they are independent contractors.

Independent contractors are self-employed individuals or companies, usually self-employed entrepreneurs, who perform work or services as contractors for a third party, rather than as employees.
