An individual who assists patients in paying their medical bill and answering any questions they may have.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for Patient Account Representatives who are passionate about providing excellent customer service and are excited to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Patient Account Representative Duties:

  • Assists patients and doctors in understanding health insurance benefits, policies, and procedures
  • Presents and discusses offers of insurance coverage, treatment plans, and procedures
  • Tracks patient payments, deductibles, and copayments
  • Maintains patient medical records
  • Prepares financial reports
  • Performs other related duties as needed

Patient Account Representative Responsibilities:

  • Fill out insurance eligibility forms, collect co-pays and deductibles, verify insurance information, confirms patient information, and assist in scheduling appointments
  • Assist patients in understanding account balances, payment options, and financial policies
  • Prepare and submit insurance claims for payment
  • Handle telephone inquiries regarding payments, balances, policies, and procedures
  • Promotes financial education and offers assistance to patients in need
  • Assist with posting patient and insurance payments
  • Orders patient records, supplies, and equipment
  • Responds to internal and external requests and correspondence in a timely manner using professional, courteous, and diplomatic communication
  • Performs other duties as needed

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, nursing, or related field
  • 1-2 years experience in patient account or medical billing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills and strong working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
