A Patient Services Technician (PST) is a registered nurse who assists physicians in the delivery of care, as well as maintains medical equipment.

A Patient Services Technician may work in a clinic, an emergency room, an in-patient facility, or other healthcare setting.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Patient Services Technician to join our team. The Patient Services Technician will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to our patients. They will also be responsible for scheduling appointments, verifying insurance benefits, and collecting payments.

Patient Services Technician Duties:

  • Treat patients with respect, dignity, and compassion
  • Follow safety guidelines at all times
  • Assist patients in accessing care in a timely manner
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment
  • Answers phone calls regarding appointment scheduling
  • Answers questions regarding insurance and billing
  • Handles billing and collection issues

Patient Services Technician Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical trial administrative support to clinical research teams
  • Maintain accurate patient records, documents and reports
  • Produce documents including case report forms (CRFs), informed consent documents (ICDs), and trial budget reports
  • Perform data entry, including entering data into an EDC system
  • Perform administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, and maintaining supplies
  • Assist with patient scheduling and in-office tasks including answering telephones
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to clinical research staff

Requirements And Skills:

  • High School diploma or GED certificate
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic
  • Ability to operate office equipment
