Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Peer Support Specialist to join our team. The Peer Support Specialist will provide support and guidance to clients with mental health and/or substance abuse issues. This position is responsible for connecting clients with resources, providing referrals, and advocating for clients. The Peer Support Specialist will also provide support in group settings and facilitate groups as needed.

Peer Support Specialist Duties:

  • Knowledge of the social, emotional, and behavioral challenges individuals experiencing homelessness face
  • Develop rapport with homeless and at risk individuals
  • Participate in community outreach events, support groups, and meetings
  • Provides emotional support to individuals in crisis
  • Assists with goal setting, life skill development, and problem solving
  • Provides information on available community resources

Peer Support Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in reaching their personal goals
  • Provide individualized support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Provide one-on-one or group therapy
  • Develop appropriate goals for programs
  • Collect and analyze program data
  • Assist with supervision and administration of program staff
