Pipe fitters install and repair the piping systems of buildings, factories, and power plants as well as install and repair pumps, motors, and other mechanical systems.

Pipe fitters install piping systems in homes, schools, hospitals, and factories.

Pipe fitting work is generally indoor, but pipe fitters must sometimes work in outdoor environments.

Pipe fitters work mostly with other pipe fitters, plumbers, boilermakers, electricians, and other building trades workers.

Job Brief:

We're looking for Pipe Fitter to install, maintain, and repair pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases.

Pipe Fitter Duties:

  • Utilize tools, equipment, and machinery to do work on industrial pipelines
  • Perform tasks related to assembling, welding, and repairing pipelines
  • Build and reroute pipes
  • Work with blueprints and survey drawings
  • Screen for leaks
  • Install and repair valves
  • Set up and maintain pipelines
  • Perform inspections on pipes
  • Issue reports

Pipe Fitter Responsibilities:

  • Perform all pipe-related duties, including installation and repair; install and repair valves, traps, clean-outs, wet wells, pumps, and meters; install and repair water, oil, gas, and sewer lines, including directional borings and trenching
  • Assist with construction, demolition, and excavation
  • Properly use tools, equipment, and safety procedures

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience performing onsite field support
  • Experience in the installation of water and sewer lines, drains, and other piping systems
  • Knowledge of construction methods and technologies, and ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts
  • Knowledge of building code requirements
