Police Officer Duties:

  • Perform duties of a police officer, including maintaining law and order in public places
  • Maintain law and order by enforcing and governing laws, ordinances, and regulations
  • Handle complaints, arrests, and seizures
  • Interrogate suspects
  • Interview witnesses
  • Collect and analyze evidence
  • Write reports and prepare witnesses, maintain records, and perform other duties
  • Perform dignitary protection and security at designated buildings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Police Officer Responsibilities:

  • Complicate investigations by collecting and analyzing evidence; interview witnesses, suspects, and victims; perform surveillance and other law enforcement duties; and testify in court
  • Perform traffic enforcement, accident investigations, and paramedic duties
  • Apply proper first aid care; respond to medical emergencies; and operate special field equipment
  • Train public safety officers and personnel on procedures, laws, and policies
  • Enforce traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations
  • Maintain work and appearance standards
  • Exercise good judgment; make sound decisions; and work both independently and cooperatively with others
  • Attend regular training; maintain appropriate certifications; and participate in professional organizations

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in criminal justice or law enforcement
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license
