Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Police Sergeant to lead our team of officers. The ideal candidate will have experience leading a team of police officers and will be able to maintain order and discipline among them. They will also be responsible for investigating crimes and responding to emergencies.

Police Sergeant Duties:

  • Coordinate patrols, assign units to patrol areas, and recommend and implement measures for crime prevention and detection
  • Assist in investigations, arrests, court testimony, and in investigations of traffic collisions
  • Promote morale and discipline of subordinates
  • Track and maintain reports on vehicle accidents, arrests, traffic and other incidents
  • Use effective communication and problem-solving skills

Police Sergeant Responsibilities:

  • Maintain order and maintain security for VIP’s and dignitaries at various events
  • Enforce compliance with city ordinances, codes, and regulations, and uphold due process in carrying out duties
  • Identify and investigate crimes and violations, perform booking and fingerprinting, supervise detention of persons, and interrogate suspects
  • Train, supervise, and discipline police officers, and counsel citizens with problems, complaints, or appeals
  • Supervise criminal investigations, surveillance, and undercover activities, and supervise the use of police dogs and other investigative tools
  • Manage all radio and telephone communication
  • Complete administrative duties, including maintaining records, filing reports, and preparing correspondence
